How do websites actually work
A website is how your business presents itself on the Internet. It’s like having a digital storefront where potential customers can learn more about what you offer. To set up your online presence, think of it like opening a bakery in your town. Instead of renting a physical shop, you rent space on a server to store your website.

Servers
A server is a special computer connected to the Internet that stores websites. It holds the website’s files, like text, images, videos, and code. The server “serves” the content to users when they visit your website. Think of it like a bakery delivering your products to customers who ask for them.
Hosting and IP Addresses
Each server has its own address called an IP address (Internet Protocol address). This is a series of numbers that helps devices on the Internet locate and connect to your server. But instead of using these long numbers, we use something easier to remember: a domain name.
Domain Name and URL
The domain name is the key part of your website’s address (URL). It’s like the sign outside your bakery. When people want to visit your website, they type your domain name (like www.trendlinkz.com) into their browser. The browser then uses this domain to find your server and access your website.
When you enter a website’s URL, the browser starts by finding the server that holds the website. It then communicates with the server to request the content—images, text, and other files—and displays them on your device.
In Summary
Your website lives on a server, and it’s accessed through a URL. The domain name is what makes your site easy to find, and the server sends the necessary files so visitors can view your site on their devices.
